I’ve visited a fair few wedding venues in the Lake District over the years, and I always love the chance to return and photograph epic views and dramatic portraits, whilst also ensuring the real emotions of your day are documented. If you’re looking for a little bit of quaint, rustic charm, as well as the luxuries of a country house estate, then Askham Hall is a great place to consider for your Lake District wedding. Limewashed walls, creeping Ivy, and sprawling grounds with ancient woodlands create a magical setting for me to capture as a Lake District wedding photographer.

Candlelit ceremonies and wedding breakfasts in the Bank Barn have a warm and romantic atmosphere, and the 16th-century manor house near Penrith also provides luxurious Michelin-starred dining to treat your guests! The staff here really complete the experience, and are super accommodating to requests, nothing is too much to ask.
The quaint little church just down the road is ideal for a more traditional ceremony. Summer weddings can also make use of the extensive outdoor space for garden games and drinks, and I love capturing photos of couples wandering the grounds before heading into their wedding breakfast.
Set in the beautiful Lorton Valley, New House Farm is an idyllic, elegant venue with plenty of gorgeous features to capture in your Lake District wedding photos. Built in 1650, it has a great mix of historical and luxury details, and of course, is surrounded by some of the most incredible views!
The Hayloft and The Cart Shed provide flexible spaces for your wedding in the Lake District, including rustic bricks, oak beams, roaring log fires, and plenty of countryside charm.
The main house and holiday cottages available at Longlands at Cartmel provide accommodation for up to 40 guests, so you can extend your wedding celebrations over more than just one day. I’m always impressed with the elegant orangery and the ivy-covered façade of the main house for wedding ceremonies and the cosy cottages with traditional décor create that authentic countryside experience.
Situated in the south of the Lake District, with views across to Hampsfell, you can look forward to top-notch service and a huge variety of spaces to explore and make your own. After all, if you are getting married in the Lake District you might as well make an adventure out of it!
Nestled in the ancient woodlands of Carlisle in Cumbria, Hidden River Barn combines luxurious and modern industrial buildings with the natural beauty of the area. When I’m capturing Lake District wedding photography it’s all about the real moments of emotion, the fun, the laughter, and the happy tears, and setting everything within this magical venue adds to the atmosphere.
On-site accommodation in log cabins with epic views will impress your guests, and whatever the weather we can include the views in your wedding photos, either by using the huge windows or by taking a little wander through the estate together.

The Grade II listed main house has a crisp, white façade that sparkles in the sunshine, and the stone boathouse and Victorian Garden Pavilion provide plenty of photo opportunities.
The venue offers exclusive use for spectacular celebrations, as well as intimate elopement packages, proposals and anniversary breaks. Combining luxurious accommodation with unrivalled views and access to Lake Windermere for a just-married boat trip, this place has the WOW factor – big time!
The indoor and outdoor space at the gorgeous Inn on the Lake in Glenridding provides plenty of flexibility for weddings whatever the weather. Glass balconies and huge windows overlooking the shores of Lake Ullswater ensure even in the rain you can still enjoy the view.
The Lakeside Gazebo and jetty are high on the hit list for must-have photographs when I join couples to capture their Lake District wedding photography. The food here is delicious too, so it won’t just be the dramatic skies and views that will wow your friends and family!
Holesfoot is a secluded country house in the Eden Valley, with flexible spaces for indoor and outdoor weddings and 20 acres of grounds. Between the Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales, this venue is ideally situated for gathering your family and friends for a celebration. The bonus of having on-site accommodation means you can make a long weekend of it, and extend the party without worrying about guests needing to get home.
High ceilings, ironwork chandeliers and rustic timbers in the Long Barn are a dream to capture as a Lake District wedding photographer, and the contrast between the barn and the main house gives you huge variety in your photos.

There are some beautiful barn venues in the Lake District, with plenty of space and flexibility to host both intimate and larger-scale weddings. You’ll be spoiled for choice, with everything from the 200-year-old, character-filled Eden Barn to stately homes and country houses with barns and outbuildings to make the most of.
