Summer Weddings At the Sensational Samlesbury Hall. A stunning venue in the heart of Lancashire with incredible grounds and a historical vibe.
Philippa & Mark's intimate summer wedding at Samlesbury Hall was such a beautiful wedding day. As a recommended Wedding Photographer at Samlesbury Hall, I always cherish the opportunity to capture more wonderful memories for my fabulous couples here. It's such a beautiful wedding venue and in the summer sunshine is only enhanced by offering so many great photo opportunities. This beautiful wedding venue was built in 1325 by Gilbert de Southworth, and was the primary home of the Southworth family until the early 17th century. As wedding venues go its one of my favourites with sensational decor and grounds to match.
The first lockdown and general pandemic chaos had thwarted Mark's initial proposal plans but he managed to pop the question in October 2020 between lockdowns. His proposal was a beautiful and intimate occasion at home with Philippa. Philippa is from the area, knew of the Hall and had always been intrigued by it so when they could view the venue they, simply fell in love with Samlsebury Hall and snapped up their perfect wedding date in the Summer of 2021. Their vows were taken at Philippa's family church before the newly weds made their way to their reception.
Philippa has a beautiful essence about her which was magnified by her choice a 50s style dress with a shorter skirt which had polka dots over the tulle. Philippa went to Something Blue boutique in Bromley Cross to look for her perfect wedding dress and simply fell in love with the 50s style dress immediately. Special touches on the day included sunflowers that Philippa's dad had grown, they gave them as wedding favours along with small pots of jam by Lesley Anne Cake Design. The newly weds wanted their guests to have something to take away with them. One of the pluses of having a smaller wedding is that we could give everyone a sunflower! Not ones for being extremely traditional the happy couple did away with traditional speeches and instead asked various people to read poems/extracts which they picked from a selection we gave them. Being a more intimate and personal wedding this made for many touching moments for the entire wedding party.
I spoke with Philippa & Mark about their wedding day and they had some fabulous advice for anyone planning their wedding. "Relax as much as you can and pick your suppliers well so that you feel like you can trust them with your day. We can honestly say that we weren't worried about the details and were able to relax because we had such excellent suppliers all the way along. Make the formal bits as short and sweet as you can, they are important as you make them - so don't be afraid to do away with the things that you just don't want to do. I think if you are both enjoying yourselves then that atmosphere trickles down to everyone else."
Are you planning a wedding in Lancashire and stuck for where to consider booking, I wrote a feature about Lancashire wedding venues. I'm also asked frequently about what to do should the couple not want a religious ceremony, I spoke with Richard Spedding who provided his top 5 tips for choosing a wedding celebrant.
